Home Page – Features & Functionality

The New Homepage elevates daily workflows by serving as a personalized command center that turns patient data into actionable insights. It features configurable Widgets grouped into role-based Dashboards, enabling each user to focus on what matters most. Powered by the analytics engine, the Homepage supports flexible, real-time querying to keep information current and relevant.

Note: An expression builder is available in Designer to help business users construct custom queries. Users should be familiar with Welkin entities, their relationships, and XOR logic to build effective queries. Customers are responsible for building, testing, and maintaining their own Widgets. Support is available through Welkin Professional Services (PSE) if needed. As this feature is currently in Beta, please contact your Customer Success representative or Account Manager to enable it.

Please note that an environment is limited to 1 Dashboard and 6 Widgets while using the standard license. This limitation can be unlocked by enabling the Homepage Plus feature. Please reach out to your CSM for pricing information.

Customer User guide (WIP): Home Page – Customer Set up Guide

Features & Functionality Highlights

New Homepage Rollout Mechanism – A new URL-based (https://{Url}/{tenantName}/{instanceName}/new-home) toggle lets users preview the new homepage without affecting the current dashboard. Admins can activate the new homepage via a feature toggle in the admin panel.

Dashboard Flexibility by Role – Multiple dashboards can be configured based on user roles. Each dashboard can have a unique layout and set of widgets, supporting flexible UI configurations.

Real-Time Data via Analytics DB – A new analytics database enables near real-time data fetching for widgets, improving responsiveness over the previous MySQL setup.

Widget Builder & OpenSearch – Widgets are built using OpenSearch queries. A visual rule builder helps users define conditions, but complex queries might still require technical review of the source code.

Dynamic Variables for Dates – Expressions like now, now – 7 days, etc., are supported for dynamic filtering. A user guide outlines how to use these effectively.

Sorting and Filtering Enhancements – Sorting and filtering are now customizable per widget and can persist user preferences (sticky sorting). Default sorting is also supported at load time.

Widget Limitations & Complex Logic – Complex nested logic can produce invalid OpenSearch queries. These cases require careful validation, and customers may need support or professional services.

Core Entity Concept – Each widget is tied to a “core entity” (e.g., patient, event, notification), which determines the available fields and how data relationships are managed.

Future Roadmap: User-Friendly Filtering & Visuals – Plans include evolving the system into a self-service BI tool with counters, charts, and simplified user interfaces for filtering and table setup.

Strategic Value & Monetization Potential – The new homepage offers deep customization and operational insights, appealing especially to large orgs. It also has monetization potential and may evolve into a BI-lite tool for team leads and managers.
