Team Member Spotlight: Michelle Pampin

At Welkin Health, we believe a company is only as amazing as its people. We’ve dedicated ourselves to improving the lives of care teams and want to show off the people who work tirelessly behind the scenes to make that happen. We’ll be doing a Q&A with one of our extraordinary team members to show off the people behind the product.

We wanted to introduce you to Michelle Pampin, Welkin Health’s incredible new CEO. Michelle is an accomplished leader, with a track record of advancing high-growth software companies. Her extensive experience of driving growth strategies and working closely with product development will make a positive impact for Welkin users this year. So, let’s get to know Michelle a little bit more, shall we?

Where are you from?

I’m originally from Vancouver, Canada but I’ve lived all over the place! I’ve lived in Spain, England, France, and Mexico, but for the last 21 years I’ve called San Francisco my home.

What is your favorite Welkin value and why?

Accountability is my favorite Welkin value. Being accountable to our customers is such a huge priority for me and for our entire organization. We are creating a software platform that helps care teams run their day to day, and we know that we’re powering something bigger than ourselves – healthcare organizations. Without accountability, we simply cannot thrive and achieve our goals. I feel so lucky to be a part of a team that holds themselves truly accountable to their work, and their customers, every day.

What do you love about working for Welkin and why?

Our mission is absolutely why I love working at Welkin. The idea of using technology to improve people’s well being and lives is why I joined the team. We’ve all had family members and friends slip through the cracks of the healthcare system. I believe we’re building something that will help care teams limit that from happening, and allows them to take a more proactive approach to healthcare. Ultimately, if we can affect both the care team and patient lives in the end, that is the dream.

Who is your favorite Welkin dog and why?

Avi! I’m biased, because my own dog is a Welkin dog. He’s a 6 year old Samoyed that I rescued this past year, and he’s the best. His favorite activities include eating sardines for treats, going on long walks, barking at birds, and snuggling. He himself has his own group of healthcare specialists – his therapist (a.k.a. behavioral specialized trainer), his behavioral specialist vet (a.k.a. his psychiatrist) and me (a.k.a his nutritionist). Since Avi doesn’t come into the office very often, I adore spending time with the other Welkin pups, and being the treat supplier to them too.

What is your favorite Welkin snack?

Coffee! I’m in charge of making the daily pot each morning, since I’m a several cup a day kind of person. Unfortunately I’m gluten-free, so a lot of the delicious snacks are off limits to me.

What do you like to do when you’re not at work?

Of course my first answer is going to be – hanging with my dog! Outside of that, you can always find me spending time with my friends, eating at new restaurants, skiing (whenever I can), reading a great new book, binge watching good shows and riding my Peloton at home!

If you weren’t in your current role, what would you be doing?

I am very customer/market-centric. For any company to succeed, they must deliver customer value. I find myself to be somewhat of an architect in that way – I get in, understand the need, architect a solution, and bring it to market. So in a nutshell, I am doing what I love right now, which I’m so grateful for.

If you had a prop in your photo, please tell us a bit more about it and why it’s meaningful for you.

Very on theme with the rest of my interview, my prop is Avi, my dog 🙂
