Team Member Spotlight: Shannon Juliano

At Welkin Health, we believe a company is only as amazing as its people. We’ve dedicated ourselves to improving the lives of care teams and want to show off the people who work tirelessly behind the scenes to make that happen. We’ll be doing a Q&A with some of our extraordinary team members to show off the people behind the product.

Our very own Shannon Juliano is our Head of Customer Success and has been with Welkin Health for two years. Shannon is an incredible customer advocate, organizational mind, hard worker, and all around invaluable member of the Welkin team. So, let’s get to know Shannon a little better, shall we?

Where are you from?

Boston, Massachusetts. Well, about 20 minutes outside of the city, in Waltham, MA.

What do you love about working for Welkin and why?

Comparing this to my previous experiences, what I love about working for Welkin is the ability to share and execute my ideas and visions, while also learning and growing in an accepting environment surrounded by support from our leadership team and peers. While working at Welkin over the last (almost) 2 years I have been able to self-drive and expand my knowledge more than I ever thought I could, which has been the benefit of working for a startup. Of course I’d be lying if I didn’t say there have been bumps in the road, but learning from challenging situations has also been invaluable. I appreciate working with a team where everyone is supportive of one another and willing to pitch in where needed. I am excited to see what our growing team can accomplish next!

What is your favorite Welkin value and why?

Inclusivity. In the world we live in today, especially in the values which I am working to teach my children, this value is very important to me. Ensuring that Welkin is diverse and supports everyone no matter what gender, race, opinion they have on any subject matter, etc is one of the key components I’m looking for when working for a company. I have very much enjoyed learning from my diverse group of Welkin teammates over the last 2 years.

Pets are a big deal at Welkin. We love showing off our furry friends in our #pets Slack channel. So, who is your favorite Welkin pet and why?

Avi would be my favorite Welkin animal. He’s this fluffy white dog who loves to sing. We always get amazing updates about his life in our shared #pets Slack channel and since he’s the most posted, I feel like I know as much about his day-to-day life as I know about my own children’s schedules, eating habits, injuries, and what brings them joy.

What is your favorite snack while working from home?

Nut mix. Since my schedule is a bit hectic and I’m managing calls in multiple timezones, I typically do not sit down for a traditional meal, but always love to grab handfuls of nut mixes (sweet and salty are my favorites).

What do you like to do when you’re not at work?

When I am not working I love to cheer on my kids at their MULTIPLE sporting events. Soccer, Cheerleading, Hockey, Dance, Baseball, Lacrosse, and Flag Football all keep us very busy on the weekends with all of my 4 children’s schedules.

If you weren’t in your current role, what would you be doing?

Event Planning for sure. In my next life I would be an Event Planner for any occasion, no event would be too big or too small 🙂 I’m a very detail oriented person and I love this kind of work. In addition I would continue to volunteer and sit on Boards for my children’s sports and school activities. I always feel the one way to keep informed on what is going on in your children’s lives and circle of friends is to stay connected with their activities.

What’s your daily routine look like?

Daily routine post-quarantine can vary with all 4 children’s schedules. Typically up between 5:00 – 5:30 am to work out and then wake up all the kids to get ready for school. Check email and work with off shore teams to address any questions during their timezones. Get kids off to school between 7:30 – 8:30 (depending on age) and then start day fully by 8:30 with both internal and external customer calls. Day can get interrupted with school pick up and sports drop offs starting around 2:30 pm local time, however typically I am online through 10 pm my time to work collectively with my team to ensure all customer items have been addressed. Thank goodness with Welkin we’re all full-time remote, and we can manage our personal schedules easily.

Since Welkin Health is now fully remote, where in your home do you like to work?

With both my husband and I currently working from home full time post-Covid, he works upstairs in our son’s bedroom where his desk is set up. I work on our main living level from our dining room. It is our hope to build an office over our garage at some point if we decide to stay in our current home.
